Tender Mercies and Great Miracles....

Hello Everyone....
I hope everyone had a great week this week...Congrats to Matt and my New Sister-In-Law Elisabeth for their desire to enter in the House of the Lord and to be sealed for all time and eternity...It was kind of funny Saturday I couldnt help but think a little about the wedding and the reception afterwards haha my companion and I stopped about 6 p.m. to eat a Celebratory Ice Cream Bar to celebrate a little with the newleyweds and to cool down a little bit...But I tried my best to focus myself on the work...and on Saturday we found so many new people to teach and Sunday we had a record of 13 new investigators in the Church...it was amazing...Just a tender mercy of the Lord telling me that I am doing alright and that I am completing my purpose here in this area....

During weekly planning this week we were going through the Area Book(a binder that has all of the records of all of the investigators in our area) we were searching using the Holy Ghost to help us find any old investigators that were now ready to progress and be baptized...We picked out a few records and that same day we searched there houses...One sister named Ofelia was on one of the records...we felt that she would be ready...the missionaries haven't taught her in almost 8 months...We spent a lot of time trying to find where she lived (she had a crazy address) and finally we found her...come to find out more than 6 missionaries have taught her and she pretty much understood everything of every lesson that we teach....and I was thinking what we could teach her that she hasn't already heard...My companion and I were praying in secret throughout the whole lesson to have the Holy Ghost with us...We taught a little bit about the Restoration and we could feel the spirit really strong, at that moment she told us...You know what Elders this time I am going to be ready to be baptized....Its my time....She is a widow that has 4 kids and all of them came to church yesterday...we are really excited to see what happens with her and all of her kids...
We have had a few more experiences like this this past week....it has been a great source to find more people to teach...

All in all this has been a great week with lots of success!
Thanks for all of your love and support!

Strange Addictions and Awesome Transfers...

Hello everyone....

We have had quite a week here in Puerto Penasco..things have been quite crazy....
A few things...we had transfers today and Elder Celaya left to finish up his mission as Zone Leader in Hermosillo..I feel a little bad that he will be headed toward 125 degree weather but he liked the idea so he can lose a little weight before he heads back home haha....I recieved Elder Bernal from Washington as my companion...Funny thing When I started the mission in Hermosillo, Elder Bernal was my Zone Leader haha and so it has been fun to share a few memories from Hermosillo...I am super excited to learn more and to work more...that is one thing I remember from Elder Bernal that he just likes to work....so I think we will get along just fine...haha

Also before I forget Happy Fathers Day Dad!!! We had a great Fathers Day here we actually went to eat with an Older American couple from Arizona that lives right on the beach...We enjoyed a great Pork Roast with applesauce, real Idaho baked potatoes and vegetables, biscuits, pineapple with cottage cheese, and a Lemon Cake for desert.....Wow was it amazing...I dont think I have eaten so much in my life....It brought back a lot of memories of eating with my grandparents and family the same meal...haha

Yesterday we also had Omar come to church....Omar is just a great guy he has been reading tons in his down time at work and he is in the middle of Alma haha crazy...he is really examining the Book of Mormon on the side of the Bible...and he is gaining a firm testimony of the truth...I will attach a photo of Omar so you guys can see who he is....

Also another thing happened this week...as missionaries we deal with people that have many different types of addiction whether be drugs or other things with the Word of Wisdom or gambling....almost every type of addiction we have dealt with or so I thought...This week we met a man that expressed to us an addiction that was one thing I had never thought about before but his addiction is Rooster Fighting...I wont talk to much on the subject but this man expressed how much this controled his life, raising roosters, training them and then gambling on them...so we have been started helping him drop this addiction...He is really motivated to dropping the addiction and be a follower of Christ "in all things" This has really mad me realize that anything can become an addiction it doesnt matter what it is....

Well there are a few things that are happening here...I am excited to start another transfer here in Puerto Penasco.. Also Hope all the Fathers had a Great Fathers Day yesterday...we sure apreciate you....And I really apreciate my Father for teaching me the quality of hard work even if it is stinking hot outside hahaha...Love you Dad!

Love you all

A Few More Meetings and Lots of Americans and Tons of Opportunies to Share the Gospel

Hey Everyone....
This week has been crazy...A lot has happened here in Puerto Penasco in the last week...This is the last week of the transfer and quite a few people will be heading home...incluided in those are the President and Hermana Hernandez...(the mission president and his wife) It will be kind of weird to have a new President but its all good.....So to say goodbye to everyone the President and his wife stopped in to have a Zone Conference so we could hear a farewell message and take pictures....It was really great and we all learned a lot....Attached you will find photos of me and Pres.and Hermana Hernandez and the Puerto Penasco Zone with them also...We will be recieving the President Robinson soon and we will have a meeting with him and his wife in the beginning of July...

Another thing that happened this week was that the Rotary Club from Utah came down (about 600 americans) to do lots of service....they built 4 or 5 houses and did a lot more service at a local Rotary Club school... Being from Utah more than half of the group were members of the church....We got a phone call from the Man in Charge on Tuesday morning to see if our Zone of Missionaries could help... so Elder Celaya and I went to go see the projects and it was amazing, kids, teenagers, and even older people came running to us to take pictures and then post them on the internet...haha I told my companion after that we should have charged the people 1 dollar to take a picture with them haha we would have been rich...haha We dropped off quite a few pamphlets of the Restauration with telephone numbers and the direction of the church on the back...we gave them to all of the Americans who wanted them so that they could hand out to people and share the gospel...and it has been quite neat to get random phone calls from people that they have contacted haha....super great....

Also we have quite a few investigators that have been coming to church...one is named Omar...Omar was a Pastor at a other church and now he is a preacher at the Rehabilitation Center...on the side he works at a Gas Parts store...He is a really great guy...He has studied the Bible a ton...and I mean a ton....He has tons of questions about Aaronic Priesthood and Melquesidek Priesthood and questions that only the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints answers...it was super great and is really opening up to our message and this week he read almost 50 chapters of the Book of Mormon haha...He has a strong desire to be baptized by the Priesthood Power and he wants to be a missionary like us...haha I hope he progresses well and keeps on completing his commitments...

Alot of great things are happening with the Work in Puerto Penasco!!!
Love You all..

This is a picture that was posted on Facebook by Carrie Dana Wallace, part of the group from Utah.  It turns out she is a friend of Amy Richardson, Matt's soon-to-be Mother-in-law!
So fun to see him in "action"!!

Lots of things to do in not very much time....

Hello Everyone...
I hope every one is doing well and enjoying your summer vacation...
This week was crazy...we had to go to Hermosillo again for a meeting with all of the Zone Leaders in the mission...It was quite the experience to meet all of the Zone leaders in the mission...As a younger missionary you hear stories about all of the Zone Leaders and how they are all just exceptional missionaries...And Boy they sure live up to their reptuations haha...Still a little weird most of these Elders have more time as a Zone Leader than I do in my entire mission...haha but we were able to have a great meeting and bring back some really great instruction to our zone here in Puerto Penasco...But before we went to hermosillo I got my bike stolen...it is quite the long story but ya it was kind of a bummer but i hope who ever stole it is putting it to good use and is at least using the helmet that was left on the handle bars haha...So after buying another bike we were off.....haha O mexico....

We didnt have a whole lot of time this week, in our meetings but we were able to utilize all of saturday to make up on lost time and we had a great turn out yesterday at church...O how I love 1 o clock church....haha...The spirit was super strong yesterday as the members of the branch and a few americans bore their testimony...o it was perfect...

This week we also have been practicing to make tortillas and we have been getting better...the first time we made them they ended up like scones haha but this last time they turned out pretty good...And i tell you what fresh tortillas in the morning is such a wonderful thing....

Well here are a couple things that happened this week...We have just been keeping really busy...The Work is going forward!

Love you all

Miracles...

Hola Everyone
I hope everyone has had a great week and all of my brothers are ready to tackle their last week of school...

This week has been crazy...we started off having companion exchanges with the Assistents on Monday then I came back to my area on Wednesday Night and then we had more exchanges with one of our District Leaders on Friday and Saturday so I have only been in my area for about 2 days this week haha but i have learned so much with each one of these Elders....In Hermosillo it is super hot already and super dry...super weird while I was there I didnt sweat very much but you can just feel your body just drying up...just like a piece of fruit in one of those food dehydraters haha crazy hot like 115 degrees F hot haha But as many of the people told me when I was there the Summer has just begun and it will get worse...haha..

We had quite the experience yesterday in the middle of sacrament meeting...one of the sisters in our branch had a heart attack and was carried out of the chapel to meet up with the ambulance...Such a crazy experience we ran out to see if we could help with anything and the sister was unconscience
...they asked if we could give a blessing to the sister before the paramedics arrived...and so we ran in to get our consegrated oil to give her a blessing...I had the opportunity to offer the blessing but right before I gave it the ambulance showed up with the siren blaring loud and clear...I remember that when I started speaking everything seemed silent and I could offer a short and simple blessing meanwhile the paramedics were checking her pulse and everything like that...we finished and when we took our hands off of her head she came to and thanked us for the blessing she was then rushed off to the hospital...The Sister called us later to thank us again and to tell us that she was safe and sound in her house...and that the doctors related her story to a Miracle...This experience strengthened my faith and testimony that we truely have the power of God here on Earth and that, if we are worthy, will be asked to work Miracles among men....

Just a few things from this week...pretty crazy but just know Miracles do exist...

Thanks for all the support and love
Love Elder Child

The night view of Hermosillo...still was about 90 degrees at 9 o clock at night...hahah I am so glad to be in Puerto Penasco
