Lucky 100

Hello Everyone...

This week has been pretty dang crazy (as it always is on the first week of the transfer)...Just so you guys know also...Elder Schappi had special transfers and I recieved Elder Banda this past week also haha I know crazy transfers...

First I will explain a little about my new area...for a couple of days I really thought that they had sent me back to the States...I am in a wealthier part of Hermosillo...Everyone has nice houses and cars and they even have door bells (something I havent seen for a while) There are many advantages and disadvantages to this area...The Ward is great...Its really weird to be in a ward again after being in branches for almost a year...There are a few American families living here which is also kind of fun...A Sister from the ward is letting us use one of her rental houses which is really nice...it has water heater, washer, dryer, more than enough bathrooms and even walk in closets haha...we feel pretty dang spoiled...

We arrived to an area that doesnt have very much work and so we have been trying to contact a lot of people we were knocking on lots of doors to begin the week and more recently we have put into practice a method to contact the Busses....We have to travel on public busses at least 2 times a day...and so what we have started to do is when we get on the bus...one companion goes to the back and the other stays in front and screams lout for all to hear a little about our message and who we are...then we go one by one to every person on the bus and ask if they want a visit...It is very interesting...It really gets the adrenaline pumping haha...We have been able to contact quite a few people in this way for the past couple of days....

Yesterday after the church services we were counting up our Contacts for the week and the goal for the mission is 100 and we counted 98 so on the way to the Lunch we were on the hunt for the 2 other people...in those 98 contacts we had made there werent a lot of people that wanted to hear our message or even desired to talk to us...But we kept going we contacted a lady on the street that didnt want anything...and almost 5 minutes before we got to lunch we passed by a gas station and a guy jumped out of his car and came closer quite rapidly...His name is Arturo and he was telling us about all of his religious experience and of his desire to learn more about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon...It was crazy...number 100 (the mission goal) Finally we found someone who had lots of interest....He told us where he lived (which is actually in almost the most wealthy neighborhood here) and we put an appointment...Its crazy how God works...from this experience I saw that God is preparing people in every neighborhood in every city...it doesnt matter what their situation is...Rich or Poor....

We are excited to start to teach him and all of his family...

Our Zone also had the opportunity to go to the temple this past week...What a great experience...I feel so lucky to be in Hermosillo because all of the missionaries in Hermosillo get to go to the temple once every transfer...We are pretty spoiled...

Thanks for everything
I love you guys

Meetings, Temple, Baptisms, and Transfers

Hey Everyone...
This week was super crazy...We had a Training Meeting in Hermosillo on Friday so we had to leave Thursday late to get there on time...The Training meeting is for all of the Trainees and Trainers of the Mission...Elder Wilson and I were able to learn a lot... Also taking advantage of the trip to Hermosillo,  I asked Pres. Robinson if i could go to the Temple and he then asked me...Elder when was the last time you went to the temple...I said that the last time I went to the temple I was still in the MTC in Provo haha...So I was able to finally enter into the Temple Friday afternoon...It was AMAZING...I told some other Elders afterwards that a trip to the Temple just makes you want to go back and back and learn more and more....Its crazy...Just going one time is like eating a piece of Pepperoni on a Huge Supreme Pizza ....We were able to enjoy lots of time meditating and reading inside...It was such a wonderful experience....haha we entered in at 5 o clock and left at about 8:45 haha It was so nice...Because we got out later we didnt leave Hermosillo until Saturday in the morning at 7 a.m. We got to Caborca at about 12 pm and we went right to work trying to get everything set up for a baptism at 6 pm haha

In our first weeks in Caborca we found a Mother and her daughter that were very ready to accept the Gospel we were able to teach them and help them to prepare for their baptism on the 16th of January...They are named Yuliana and Paloma... We had a great turn out for the Baptism...filling up the whole Baptismal font room...

Also we had transfers today....and suprisingly I had transfers :( Which is really crazy since Elder Wilson and I are in the middle of a Training and I just had 1 transfer in Caborca...but o well now I am in Hermosillo as Zone Leader again with Elder Schlappi from Mesa, Arizona...(He was with me in the MTC) We are excited to open area here in Hermosillo and get to know our zone a little bit more this week and our area as well haha...

Its crazy how fast you can get attached to people...Saying goodbye to all of the Branch in Caborca was really hard...it was as if I had been there for a whole year...I got to know a lot of people in just one transfer...Caborca was amazing...Elder Wilson is still there with an other Elder finishing his training...

Thats ol folks for this week just about everything happened this week haha...
Love you all

Getting a little Muddy

Hello Everyone!!!
I hope everyone is doing well getting back in the swing of things...All of the kids here are just back into school today...and I am hearing lots of whining haha jk...
This week has been crazy...It has rained a lot...all of the dirt streets turned into muddy messes and the majority of the dirt ran onto the paved streets so it was just a big ol muddy mess haha... Elder Wilson quite enjoyed it because he has missed the rain...apparently it rains a lot in Washington haha :) He was going through all of the puddles with his bike he was ¨Singing in the Rain¨ haha but all of that happiness ended when he got off his bike and realized the bike tire had sprayed mud up on his back and backpack...I got a pretty good kick out of it...haha I am glad that my bike is an older style that has little covers over the tires so that doesnt happen...haha

This week we have finally been able to put together a few Family Home Evenings...Pres. Robinson has invited us to have a mini Family Counsel with the Active families of our branch and ask them a few of there family/friends that are members but are less active...and our invitation is that the Active families can be the missionaries for these less active members...So we have done it and we have had lots of success...We had a Family home evening this week with the Branch President and his family...They chose to help a one of their family members and his family who is quite inactive....We arrived to find the Presidents family the inactive family and about 20 other people ,family and friends, that came to help this one Inactive family...I was struck immediately with a wonderful spirit...In that house I bet there were 35 people singing, praying, sharing testimonies, and thanking God for this wonderful Gospel and for our wonderful families....I was one of these...That inactive family went to church with the help of everyone...We will keep on doing these Family home Evenings hopefully once every week for 6 months or when ever the family is completely reactive...

We have implimented this program with lots...we hope to keep on going with all of the Active members searching out long lost friends and family...

Here is my week in 2 paragraphs
Love you all...
Elder Child

One boy wants to be a missionary so bad he begged us to take him...haha and so with the permission of his mother we took him around the block on our bikes...

New Year 2016

Hello Everyone...
This week was pretty crazy just like last week...We ate lots and we were able to teach quite a few complete families that were in their houses...

We dont have a lot of time to write today but this week were able to have a Zone Conference with the President here in Caborca and were able to learn a lot more things that we can improve here in the mission...and on Sunday a few of our investigators were able to finally come to church...last week there was an outage of water in the whole city of Caborca and so that gave a lot of people their excuse haha but this week they were able to come to feel a wonderful spirit in our Fast and Testimony meeting...

Sorry we dont have much time.. here are a few highlights and pics from this week...
Love Elder Child
