Life on the Border

Hola Everyone,
I hope everyone is doing great.....This week was super hard at the beginning as we opened area only because it is super hard to find the houses of our members and potencial investigadors....there are no street signs and no one has a house number posted outside their house hahahahaa so we have to contact the whole street just to find that one house haha but the good thing about that is that we can contact more people and we can have more people to teach haha.....

We have really progressed this week and I am excited to see what this week has in store for us ....I really hope I am not going to fast for my new companion every night we come home we do daily planning then he just crashes haha....But really he has only been on the mission for 3 weeks hahah so he is still adapting to the schedule....
This week I feel like I have improved very quickly in my spanish because my companion is a little quiet so I did most of the talking hahah I am thinking 100 percent in spanish which makes it to write letters like this in english....

All in all this week was super sweet we contacted and taught 17 new investigators which is exactly what I was hoping for hopefully out of these we can have a few that progress towards baptism....we had a meeting on sunday with the Branch Mission Leader and we were talking about what we could do as a branch to have more success in the missionary work and we decided to have a branch wide fast to find a families that is prepared to receive the gospel and take the step of baptism as a family.....so i am super excited to see what happens in the upcoming weeks and months....

Thanks for everything Love you guys....

Just on the Border, Opening Area and Training.....the Pressure is on!!!

Hello everyone!!!

Sorry I am writing on Tuesday we had some crazy transfers yesterday and so we arrived very late last night...I had transfers to Open a area in Agua Prieta (border of Douglas Arizona) and training an Elder from Puebla....He is super cool and we have just started to get familiar with our area but it is super hard because they rarely have a street sign haha so that is interesting...

This past week was super crazy....we had quite the week of progression with our investigators in Reforma...Some faster than others haha...

One of the pictures I am going to attach is of the Family Zoto...we found this family out of pure luck haha through a chain of investigators and menus activos...I feel really lucky to have met them they are members but havent been to the church for about 7 years...and every time we go over to visit them we end up teaching 6 or 7 of their non member friends that are just over for a visit...and everytime we go we find 1 or 2 new people haha They are a super wonderful family...They have come to church the last 2 weeks in a row and are committed to going every Sunday..and are committed to Praying and reading the Scriptures as a family everyday... Super cool family...after I told them that I would be leaving the Hermana started crying and wished me the very best telling me that they will always pray for me...Kind of a hard thing leaving a ward and an area full of Members and Investigators after 4 and half months...

Same thing happened with Family Parra we had a Going away dinner with them and they suprised me with Fat BOYS!!! haha they tasted so good...I will miss my ward but I am excited to get to know more people and progress more in my mission...

I am excited and nervous for this learning experience I hope I can teach my Son effectively and we can have as much success opening this area as we had when we opened in Reforma......(the Trainer is called the Dad or Padre and the Trainee is called the son or Hijo)

Thanks so much for your love and support...

Small Victories on the Battlefield of a Missionary

Hey Everyone....
I hope everyone is doing just dandy haha Everything is going well here and today is the beginning of the last week of the Transfer so we are excited to see what this week has in store for us....

First....We won the battle of the 8 o clock church yesterday with a great victory ahhhh it was sooooooo great....We had 5 inactive families come yesterday and a great number of investigadores...it was the best feeling ever to have everyone sitting close by and participating in the Sacrament and listening to all of the talks...ahhhh it was soooooo great...I hope we can continue getting these people in church everyweek so they can feel the importance of it....

I feel really great at the end of this transfer....Knowing that a change is almost unavoidable and that 4 1/2 months ago Elder Dipko and I opened this area with only a map and a list of some of the members here and visiting the same people every other day.......We have really developed quite a big list of investigators and members that we didnt even know existed and have been filling our schedule with tons of Scheduled appointments for days....It has been quite the learning experience starting from scratch....I am excited to see what the transfers have in store for us as one of us (at least) has to leave...If I leave I know that there will be a lot of work to do in Barrio Reforma for many transfers to come....

Thanks for all of your support sorry this letters short....haha

The Battle of the 8 o clock Church Continues....

Hello Everyone...Hope everyone had a Great week...Happy Birthday Caleb haha Its so crazy you are 9 years old haha...Wow I am old...

This week we taught more lessons then we have ever taught which is super cool because we were the busiest we have ever been teaching almost 70 lessons this week... We made sure to make commitments with everyone we taught...focusing mainly in Praying, Reading the Scriptures and Attending church...we taught everyone the significance of all these things...we simply did all that we could do this week to explain the importance of their commitments...Most if not all of our investigadores are praying and reading daily which is super good and we were super excited because so many people had promised us that they were going to come to church...but most had an excuse of not having a ride to church or not having money for the bus...so we organized rides for everyone....haha we even had the Bishop come with his big VW hippie van...we had everything perfectly organized....and then came sunday morning...haha we woke up early to walk to the other end of area to knock the doors of our investigators so that they would be ready when the rides got to their houses...and no one was awake....I am starting to have a Love/Hate relationship with sleep....it is so wonderful and everyone needs it but I think it is Satans way of keeping my investigators away from church...So the Battle continues and again we had nobody come to church...So the truth is we were sad but we know that we did everything that we could have possibly done to try and get everyone to church... But I am excited to start a new week and Try again haha....

Church was super great everyone missed out we talked about the Creation of the World...and all of the plants and animals that God Created....and the teacher was making a point of how beautiful it is if you travel out of this city and see sage brush and deer and other animals and plants...haha If anything made me a little homesick it was that....haha I just went off on a day dream thinking about all the free space in Weiser and the wonderful sunsets everynight...haha That is one thing I miss open space...haha It was a pretty cool lesson even though it made me a little home sick haha

All in all I am doing very well with the language and teaching...I was able to go on Companion Exchanges with a Elder that isnt very strong in the language and teaching skills yet and it was great to help him out a little bit...

I pray and hope for the very best in this week for you guys....You are always in my Prayers...
